Eating By Myself - Comiendo Solita
Elaina is eating very well now. After being sick for than a week with vomits, Elaina’s doctor gave us green light to give Elaina to try almost everything. She loves Turkey with gravy, Chicken with rise, green been, cereal with banana, carrots (sometimes), etc. Here is Elaina getting crazy learning to eat by herself, which she loves.

Elaina esta comiendo muy bien. Después de estar enferma por mas de una semana con vomito y diarrea, El doctor de Elaina nos dio luz verde para darle a probar casi todo tipo de comida. Elaina le gusta el pavo con salsa, pollo con arroz, zanahoria, melón en pedazos y cereal con cambur.

Two months old - Dos meses
Elaina is two months old and we took her to her doctor. The doctor said that Elaina is growing very good. She is now 23 1/4 inches (61 centimeters) long and weight 11.9 pounds (5.4 Kilograms)...
Last night she slept 7 hours continues for the first time. We hope that she goes all the way very soon.

Elaina ya tiene dos meses y la llevamos al doctor para su chequeo de dos meses. La doctora dice que esta creciendo muy bien. Ahora Elaina mide 61 centímetros y pesa 5.4 kilos. La doctora dice que Elaina es más grande que el 75% de los niños en Estados Unidos con dos meses. Eso no significa que va hacer más alta que su papa, pero significa que esta creciendo muy muy bien.
Anoche por primera vez durmió 7 horas.... y esperamos que pronto duerma toda la noche.

We had the office party last week. It was in a house's lake. We really had fun. Elaina slept all day long... and that night she didn't, so we are not taking her to a lake or pool for a while. I think the head make her too sleepy.

I am 21 days old - Ya tengo 21 dias
My babe is already 21 days old. Nothing has change that much. She moves more than before, she has gained some pounds, and she is a little bigger. Her mom said that her face has changed also. I have to say that she is still sleeping nothing during the night; however, she loves to sleep during the day. It is impossible to wake her up. You figure it out

When I read that having two monitors can increase productivity a lot for users that use more than two or more programs at the same time.... I could not resist the temptation of using this excuse to buy two new monitor and connect them to my laptop. It is amazing good idea. I always had at least Ms Word, Ms Excel, Street Atlas 2006 (street and global map), Ms Outlook , internet explorer, etc… so it had saved me some time switching from one to another.

Cuando leí que usando dos monitos conectados a la computadora mejora el rendimiento de trabajo para las personas que usan dos o mas programas... no pude dejar pasar esta buena excusa para comprarme unos nuevos monitores y conectarlo a mi portátil. Esto es increíblemente una buena idea. Yo normalmente tengo abierto Ms World, Ms excel, Ms Outlook, el programa de mapas de calles, y Internet Explorer. Esto me ha salvado bastante tiempo.

Birth Center for Birds... Centro de Nacimento de Pajaros
Our backyard is now officially a birth center for birds. There are two nests. One is a dove sitting in a very small nest and another one, that I don't know what type of bird is, in a nest with three eggs... it is going to be a summer of care of new birds and new infant, our baby.

Turks & Caicos Island Trip - Viaje
Jennifer and I went to TCI (Turks and Caicos Island) on Saturday for 3 days. We went to do a job there... you know two days of beach and sun, and half of work. We really had fun. It is a beautiful island and very young one. The beaches are beautiful, quite, and the constructions are very new... The trip in general was too fast. On Thursday, a client request a quote for the job and we did the search of how much it can cost… next day (Friday) we got the tickets and hotel reservation and on Saturday at 5 am we were in DFW airport. We got there around 1 pm and we got our car and drove to the resort. Everything fine so far. We went inside the resort and asked “it is the right place to check-in” and they say “yes and no”. What? Yes, the room that we got using Expedia was already taken and Expedia gave a reservation for a room not available. To make the story shot, I told Expedia “I am with my wife who is pregnant so you fix it and you will give a room with same quality in this island”. Three hours later, they gave us a two rooms and two bathrooms apartment (cost the double but Expedia cover the different). The true is that we knew that there were not rooms available in the whole island except for bigger rooms in this resort. But we eat only see food and we had amazing time… unfortunately, it was too short.

Jennifer y yo fuimos a TCI (Turks and Caicos Island) este sábado pasado por 3 días. Fuimos por asunto de trabajo. Tú sabes, dos días de playa y sol, y medio día de trabajo. La pasamos muy bien. La isla es hermosa y la están empezando a desarrollar. Las construcciones no tienes más de 5 anos. Las playas son increíble, calmadas, no mucha gente y las construcciones alrededor son espectaculares. El viaje fue muy rápido. Un cliente pidió el costo por un trabajo en TCI el pasado jueves, el viernes en la tarde compramos el pasaje e hicimos las reservaciones. El sábado a las 5 AM estábamos en el aeropuerto de Dallas. Llegamos a TCI como a la 1 PM, nos dieron nuestro carro y nos fuimos al Resort. Cuando llegamos a el Resort, Jennifer pregunta “este el lugar correcto para registrarnos” y la gente del Resort dice “si y no”. Expedia.com, donde hicimos las reservaciones, nos dieron un cuarto que no estaba disponible y por lo tanto no nos querían dejar regístranos en el Resort. Yo hable con Expedia y le dije “yo estoy con mi esposa la cual esta preñada y tu tienes que arreglar esto y dame un cuarto con la misma calida. 3 horas después ellos nos dieron un cuarto con dos habitaciones y dos baños en el mismo Resort. La verdad es que nosotros sabíamos que no había cuartos en ningún hotel o Resort en toda la isla, así que estábamos preocupados. Bueno, la pasamos bien y comimos mariscos y pescados todo el viaje. Desafortunadamente este viaje fue muy corto.

The name ELAINA - El nombre ELAINA
Where does ELAINA come from? The truth is that Jennifer liked that name from the beginning and she told me that she would like that name for a daughter. I told her “I like it but that name is in the family already, we need a new name”. Later that year we went to Venezuela and we spent two weeks there, where we visited much of the family, and unfortunately we also spent the final days of my aunt Felida Elena. My aunt Felida Elena died the day we got on the plane to come back to the states. But, who was Felida Elena de Gabaldon? She was the most amazing person in the world. She was beautiful, sophisticated, impressing, lovely, loyal, and a mom for almost everyone in the family. She tried to help everyone, more specifically a family member. She was so impressive that in her final days she kept herself together, so my cousin Ligia Corina, whose wedding was planned for a Saturday, would marry and everyone would attend the wedding and not her funeral. Felida Elena died the next Monday. So, we decided that Elaina (pronounced Elena) would be a way to remember one of the most wonderful persons that I had the opportunity to know, to love, to share things with, to understand, to listen, to believe in…
ELAINA (French), means Light. It is a form of Helen (Grieg). Elena is a form (Italian) of Helen. Other spellings are Elainea, Elainia, Elainna, Eleana, Elenna, Elene, Alena, Eileen, Elaine, Eleanor, Ellen, Galina, Ila, Ilene, Ilona, Jelena, Leanore, Elana, Ena, Halina, Hela, Hele, Helena, etc.

¿De donde viene el nombre ELAINA? La verdad es que Jennifer le gusto ese nombre desde el principio y me dijo que le gustaba para un niña. Y yo le dije “a mi me gusta también pero ese nombre ya existe en la familia, necesitamos uno nuevo”. Después ese año, Jennifer y yo fuimos a Venezuela, donde nosotros pasamos dos semanas visitando casi toda la familia. Desafortunadamente, también esos días fueron los últimos días de mi tía Felida Elana con nosotros (en carne y hueso). Mi tía murió el día en que nosotros nos montamos en un avión para regresar a los Estados unidos. ¿Pero, quien era Felida Elena de gabaldon? Ella era una súper mujer. Ella era hermosa, sofisticada, impresionante, amorosa, leal, y una madre para cada uno de nosotros. Ella trataba de ayudar a todo el mundo, en particular miembro de la familia. Ella era tan impresionante que en sus últimos días, ella se mantuvo fuerte para que mi prima Ligia Corina, que su boda estaba planeada para un sábado, pudiera casarte y cada persona pudiera asistir a la boda y no a su funeral. Mi tía Felida Elena murió el lunes siguiente a la boda. Entonces, nosotros decidimos que Elaina (que se pronuncia ELENA como la tia) seria una manera de recordar una de las personas mas maravillosas que he tenido la oportunidad de conocer, amar, compartir cosas con, entenderla, oírla, creen en, etc….
ELAINA (Francés), significa luz. Esta es una forma de Helena (griego). Elena es una forma de Helena (Italiano). Otras manera de escribirlo es: Elainea, Elainia, Elainna, Eleana, Elenna, Elene, Alena, Eileen, Elaine, Eleanor, Ellen, Galina, Ila, Ilene, Ilona, Jelena, Leanore, Elana, Ena, Halina, Hela, Hele, Helena, etc.

24 Weeks - 24 Semanas
24 weeks pregnant. That means 14 more to go, technically. We never know. Elaina (pronounce ELENA) is moving more than ever. She is very active and I think she is going to be a good soccer player.

Hugo Chavez Boss
I just read one an article that describes very clear what is going on in Venezuela. It shows how Hugo Chaves, president of Venezuela, has dominated the country creating a 20th century dictatorships. This article by Javier Corrales, associate professor of government at Amherst College, in the Foreign Policy magazine describe why Hugo does what he does... everything that is happening has a reason, and he is a genius doing it. I recommend it to any person that wants to know what is happening in Venezuela as well as any Venezuelan that wants to read in different words what is going on in our beautiful country.
Acabo de leer un buen articulo acerca de Hugo Chávez y de lo que esta pasando en Venezuela. Este enseña como Hugo, el presidente, ha dominado el país creando un nuevo tipo de dictadura, algo así como del siglo 20. Este artículo fue escrito por Javier Corrales, profesor asociado de gobierno en Amhert Collage, en la revista Foreign Policy y describe porque Hugo Chavez hace lo que hace… explicando que todo pasa por una razón y que Hugo Chávez es un genio haciéndolo. Realmente recomiendo este articulo para cada persona que quiere saber mas de lo que esta pasando en Venezuela así como a todo venezolano que quiera oír en otras palabras lo que esta pasando en nuestro hermosos país…

Ayer fuimos a montar bicicletas. Este fue un día hermoso pero algo frió, 7 grados centígrados. En la foto mi amigo Cesar bajando uno de los cerritos en el Grapevine Trail. Este pedazo en como de 36 metros, que en subida tiene piedras, ranuras y es en una curva, haciendo algo mas difícil. Lo hicimos de ida y bajada… fue un día frió, pero la pasamos bien.

I just found this photo. Last November I went to Costa Rica for a job and I have to fly in Continental Airline. The ticket cost $1,200 in economic class and this was what I got for lunch. One calzone (small one) with
cheese and jam, 3 (I repeated 3) grapes, one small snickers, and chips. I am not a frequent flier but it is the poorest lunch I have had in a fly in my live.

Acabo de conseguir esta foto. El noviembre pasado fui a Costa Rica por trabajo y volé con Continental Airline. El pasaje costo 1.200 dólares en clase económica y esto fue lo que me dieron por almuerzo. Un calzón de queso y jamos (bastante pequeño), 3 uvas (repito 3 uvas), un chocolate pequeño y unas papas. Yo no soy uno de eso que vuela frecuentemente pero lo tengo que decir este es el almuerzo mas pobre que he tenido en mi vida.

And that is true. My aunt Rosaura has made beautiful art in her life. The latest, with her devotion to the Virgen del Valle and to god, is painting beautifull faces of the virgen del valle.

En mi última entrada, yo escribí que mi tío Alecio era el artista de la familia, lo cual ya lo cambia a uno de los artistas de la familia, y mi prima Jessica me corrigió diciéndome que su madre también es una artista. Y eso es verdad. Mi tía Rosaura ha hecho cosas muy bellas. Su ultimo trabajo, con la devoción a la Virgen del Valle y dios, son caras de la Virgen de Valle las cuales has sido todo un éxito por ser muy únicos.

Uncle Alecio Painting - Las Pinturas del Tio Alecio
My uncle Alecio is one of the artists of the family. He has been painting for decades and I have always wanted to have one of his paintings. His latest collection is called "ARMONIA" and, to me, it presents a combination of previous collection's themes very well integrated using musical instruments as the main focus point of this collection. Here is one of his latest paintings in out dent.

Mi tío Alecio es uno de los artistas de la familia. El ha estado pintando por décadas y yo siempre he querido tener una de sus pinturas. Su ultima colección es la llamada Armonía en donde, de mi punto de vista, el une de una manera curiosa temas de sus colecciones anteriores, muy bien integradas usando instrumentos musicales como punto central de esta colección. En este cuadro es fácil visualizar parte de sus trabajos anteriores, los barcos, punto central de su colección acerca de las bellezas de Margarita; las casas y montanas, parte centra de sus pinturas cuando el vivía en Bocono; y objetos decorativos en los cuales el los uso en sus obras donde presentabas vistas de océanos, montanas, etc., tomadas desde dentro de nuestros hogares, enseñando objetos (como mesas, cuchillos, vasos, entre otras, que son parte decorativas en los hogares. Aquí esta una de sus últimas obras en nuestrosalón de TV.

Jennifer con 16 semanas y 5 días de preñada. Ahora ella esta sintiendo Elaina (se pronuncia Elena) pateándola todo el día. Además, puedo decir que ella a visitado casi todas las tiendas de Dallas buscando ropa para los próximos meses.

Nuevo Ano 2006 - New Year is Here
The New Year is here and typical people start asking what you did for Christmas Eve, New Year Eve, etc... And this year was a little different than previous one. We had a good time in Jennifer' sister house for Christmas Eve, drinking and eating a lot. After, Christmas Jennifer and I decided to have a movie week. We saw, in the theater King Kong, Fun With Dick and Jane, Syriana, y en DVD Wedding Crashers and two more that I don’t need to mention. I have to say they were very good movies.... but King Kong is the best of all movies this year. Peter Jackson, the director, is really a genius. He makes us forget what real and not real was integrating them in amazing way. Wedding Crashers is one of the funniest movie of the year and those two guys together are so good that I expect to see them doing something else together.

El 2006 ha llegado y con el las tipicas preguntas que la gente te piensa hacer, que hicistes para Navida, para ano Nuevo, etc. Este ano fue un poquito diferentes que los anteriores. Jennifer no tenia ese entsiamo navidenos de anos anteriores y yo simplemente queria relajarme y pasarla lo major possible. Despues de Navidad Jennifer y yo decidimos tener una semana de pelicula y fuimos a ver King Kong, Fun With Dick and Jane, Syriana, y en DVD Wedding Crashers todas increibles pero tengo que quitarme el sombrero con King Kong. Esta debe ser una de las mejores peliculas del ano y como dice mi amigo Sebastian Peter Jackson, el directo, lo hiso de nuevo. Weeding Chashers, no tengo idea como la llamaron en espanol, es una de las comedias mas comidas del ano. Me parecio muy buena y la mescla de los protagonistas, Vince Vaughn y Owen Wilson, es tan buena que espero verlos juntos en otros projectos.
